Mckayla Langmeier (USA) road to victory aboard Pepita VD Rollebeek in the final competition of the ‘North American’ at Spruce Meadows. A fan favourite, the Sun Life Derby features over one kilometre of track and 18 obstacles (24 efforts) that include a steep bank, double liver pools, dry ditch and of course - the notorious Devil’s Dyke.
The ATCO Cup closed out competitions on the International Ring for Friday of the ‘North American’. The Irish have been fighting amongst themselves at the top of the leaderboard, and today it was Darragh Kenny aboard Lightning, who produced the fastest clear round in the jump-off with a time of 36.95s.
Today’s Jayman BUILT Cup had 40 competitors step through the Clock Tower to challenge FEI Course Designer Santiago Varela (ESP) 560m track. As the lone qualifier for the weekend’s $1,000,000 ATCO Queen Elizabeth II Cup, athletes hoping to compete for the grand purse need to complete today’s course with at least one horse.
