March 13, 2025

Thursday, March 13, 2025 (Spruce Meadows) — Spruce Meadows President and CEO Linda Southern-Heathcott has been awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal for ‘outstanding service to Alberta, Canada, and her fellow citizens’.

She was one of just 30,000 award recipients across the country, with hers presented by the Honourable Joseph Schow, Minister of Tourism and Sport for Alberta, on Tuesday (March 11).

Linda, a former professional equestrian who competed in the 1996 Olympic Summer Games in Atlanta, is widely acknowledged for her public service, including sitting on a number of boards.

She was appointed Chair of Travel Alberta in 2019, and serves as an Honorary Lieutenant Colonel of the King’s Own Calgary Regiment, a role she has held since 2018.

Linda also received British Empire Medal in 2020 for her services to British Equestrian, Military, and Commercial interests in Alberta.

“I am deeply honoured to receive this medal,” said Linda, who is celebrating Spruce Meadows’ 50th Anniversary this year. “I’ve never been more proud to be Albertan, and Canadian.

“I’ll continue to do all that I can to promote, and give back to, our beautiful province and country.”

The Coronation Medal commemorates the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III as King of Canada and is awarded to Canadians who have made significant contributions to a province, territory, region, or community in Canada, or attained an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to their country.
