The Strathcona Mounted Troop is an authorized volunteer display unit that brings to life the spirit of Lord Strathcona’s Horse from the 1920s and 1930s. Consisting of twenty horses and twenty-five members, the troop performs the Musical Ride, a performance rooted in the Regiment's traditions from that era in addition to a tent pegging performance. The current Strathcona Mounted Troop was established in 1977, while the original Ceremonial Mounted Troop dates back to 1923, created to honour and preserve the Cavalry traditions of Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians).
Watch as these talented dogs perform incredible feats of agility and skill. Their performances are not just about competition but also about the bond between the dogs and their handlers, demonstrating teamwork and trust in every move.
Prepare for a cuteness overload as the adorable corgis take to the track. With their short legs and enthusiastic spirits, these little racers dash toward the finish line with all their might. Corgi races are not just a test of speed but a celebration of the unique personality and energy of this beloved breed. Whether they're sprinting, hopping, or just enjoying the run, the corgis never fail to entertain.
The sport of vaulting teaches people how to move in harmony with a horse. It also teaches great balance, flexibility, strength and team work skills. Equestrian Vaulting can best be described as the combination of gymnastics and dance performed harmoniously on horseback. The word vaulting originally came from the French word "voltage" which means to jump over the horse.
The Scotiabank Stage will be buzzing with activity all week! Highlights include performances by Phil 'Wizard,' Canada's newly crowned Men's gold medalist in Breaking; His Majesty's Band of the Household Cavalry; Calgary's own singer-songwriter Matt Blais; Jazz Works, and more. We have an array of hand-made glass orbs, about the size of an orange, hidden around the Spruce Meadows' grounds and awaiting your discovery. There are a select few orbs that hold an extra special allure in stunning swirls of colour and the remaining orbs are translucent and therefore tricky to see.
Each Orb will have a QR code on the bottom and this code will take you to our dedicated registration site, where you can enter your discovery into the contest. The grand prize? A Reserved Table in the West Grandstand for the summer tournaments of 2025 and International Christmas Market Tickets at Spruce Meadows this year! Just a few taps on your smartphone, and you'll be one step closer to the grand prize. And yes–you get to KEEP your beautiful Orb!
Please only keep ONE ORB PER FAMILY - we would like to give everyone the opportunity to explore!
